Hume, Fergus: Red Money, v1, 20 February 2010.
Fergus Hume [1859–1932]
Red Money [1911] A house party visits a local gypsy encampment to have their fortunes told. Shortly afterwards, a murder is committed. Are the gypsies to blame? Or is it something more sinister? The portrayal of the Romanies is romantic and stereotypical, but not unsympathetic. The cover image is Vincent van Gogh’s “Gypsy Encampment.” This work is assumed to be in the Life+70 public domain OR the copyright holder has given specific permission for distribution.
