I'm thinking along the lines of DiapDealer. Of course the choice is yours to consider it a bug or not, but closing the second instance shouldn't really affect any settings, should it? This seems somewhat related to the change you made when cancelling a close - like, the code to not close F&R is triggered by cancelling the close rather than just having F&R closing not happen in the first place.
In any case, it's a nuisance for me, but if you consider it expected behaviour for whatever reason I'll deal. |

On Close the state of F&R is remembered in settings and F&R is closed before the state is saved.
This was done to prevent the long standing restore bug where Sigil would not restore its geometry properly once F&R was open. So as I said, expected behaviour. Last edited by KevinH; 02-06-2025 at 06:31 PM. |

Great! Glad it's working for you. Though in the case of Sigil, there's really no difference between:
Code:
winget install --id Sigil-Ebook.Sigil Code:
winget update --id Sigil-Ebook.Sigil I'm very comfortable with winget's command line interface, but for those who are not, check out UniGetUI (https://www.marticliment.com/unigetui/) formerly WingetUI. It can be a bit daunting at first, but it allows you to have a gui frontend for winget, Chocolatey, Scoop, pip and several other repositories. You can even get visual notifications about new versions being available. |

I've just noticed, in the ToC editor, if I delete an item, it'll automatically delete all sub-items. I feel like this is new behaviour, and it doesn't seem ideal, at least for me.
As an example, if I have a ToC like:
If I delete Part 2, it'll nuke Chapters 3 and 4 along with it, whereas previously it wouldn't affect them. It would be nice if it could either leave the subheaders alone, or have the option to do either. |

There have been no changes to that code in many years. You do have the option to do either. If you want to save them you should select any subtitle entries you want and use the up arrow key to promote them out before deleting anything. They are not indented rows in a table. They are trees.

I just installed Sigil 1.9.30 and confirmed that there's been no change in this behavior. Nested entries are deleted when their parent gets deleted. Unnesting them first has pretty-much always been required.

Hmm, Fair enough, I guess the ones I'm remembering were flattened in the toc. In that case, is there a way to select multiple items? If I need to unnest twenty chapters within a part, it could get tedious doing it one by one.

Have you thought about using the TOCSaver plugin to make the current TOC show up in headings. Then use F&R to remove all the Part headings and then rebuild the toc itself using Sigil's tools.
You may be able to block select in the TOC Editor but I do not know off the top of my head. |

I've tried CTRL- and shift-clicking to no avail. As far as I can tell there isn't a way to do it. |

I try to modify TOCSaver to ignore files that no longer exist. That may be easily doable.
Update: This is a easy to make it skip entries that point to non-existent files as long as they no longer exist in the manifest. I will create an update to the TOCSaver plugin and post it tomorrow. Last edited by KevinH; 02-20-2025 at 06:57 PM. |
