Mostly dull article, because it only uses buzzwords ("primarily cultural arbitration and editing") rather than real suggestions to help publishers learn how to let go of their now-obsolete profit model.

But at least it got me to look up the definition of "disintermediated."

The article was fine, but as you said, fairly generic, and some of it I didn't particularly agree with. The author made a point about the lack of back lighting being a draw back and I don't see it that way at all.

I think what he is saying is: "... lack of built-in lighting ..." [bolding mine]. It's not necessarily back-lighting
