New calibre website
Hi all,
Just finished building a new calibre website available at http://calibre-ebook.com. It has lots of cool UI widgets. Try it out and let me know what you think. I'd recommend not using IE < 8 to view the site (even IE 8 has various problems, but they're minor). The old website is now available at http://bugs.calibre-ebook.com Enjoy. |

Very nice! I just watched the demo in Fire Fox with no problems. Have you posted it on YouTube as well? Maybe you can find new users that way.

Thanks, all. Yeah the video is on YouTube as well. The frontpage design was donated to calibre by CentreSource

Nice Sexy new look. Well done. Only have started with Calibre recently and still have a long discovery trip ahead of me. And looking forward to it.

The new site looks great and it's very easy to navigate.
The only minor complaint I have is that the Google ads are floating over the top of (and obscuring part of) the demo movie if the browser window is less than 1330 pixels wide (in both Safari and Firefox on Mac) |

It looks nice. My only concern is that many companies still use IE6 (the large company that I work for does) and staff are not permitted to use alternate browsers. In IE6, the site is mainly navigable, but the tabs on the "What's New" page do nothing when clicked on, and every page gives load errors.

Need to add the website to noscript in Firefox or the 'What's New' tabs don't work. But that is normal with noscript.
Is the full version history available somewhere on the site? |

@banjomike: Added a link to the full changelog in the what's new section. Not sure what you mean about noscript. The tabs work well for me in firefox. Do you mean with javascript disabled?
@harryt: Yeah IE 6 is a nightmare, complicated by the fact that debugging javascript issues in IE 6 is impossible. At some point I'll have to spend a lot of time tracking down the problem, but for now, it'll just have to slide. @pikelet: The google ads obscure the intial picture, but once the movie starts playing, it comes to the top. At least it does in firefox. I can't seem to figure out a way to get the image to be on top of the ads, increasing its z-index has no effect. EDIT: I figured out how to get the initial picture on top of the google ads as well. Last edited by kovidgoyal; 11-26-2009 at 10:34 AM. |
