What do you mean "now"? Filmed (or taped) before a live audience or a live studio audience has been a thing for almost as long as TV.

The show was previously taped in front of a live audience and they tout it as live on tape. Anything you tape is live at the time you tape it, except maybe a dead body.

That's not what live means in this context.

Sort of like how the relevant word in "digital download" was dropped, leaving the irrelevant "digital" and leading to absurdities like "available on CD and digital" which are accepted and even used by even the most pedantic mobileread members.

Hunger Makes the Wolf and Blood Binds the Pack by Alex Wells are available for £0.99 each on Angry Robot's website - Link

These are the two books in the Ghost Wolves series.

Here's the description of the first novel:
Quote:
The strange planet known as Tanegawa’s World is owned by TransRifts Inc, the company with the absolute monopoly on interstellar travel. Hob landed there ten years ago, a penniless orphan left behind by a rift ship. She was taken in by Nick Ravani and quickly became a member of his mercenary biker troop, the Ghost Wolves.

Ten years later, she discovers the body of Nick’s brother out in the dunes. Worse, his daughter is missing, taken by shady beings called the Weathermen. But there are greater mysteries to be discovered – both about Hob and the strange planet she calls home.

Beyond the Pale: Book One of The Last Rune by Mark Anthony is $1.99 at Amazon US.

Some reviews accuse the book of being derivative. I don't read a lot of fantasy, but most of it seems fairly derivative to me. That doesn't mean it's not worthwhile.

Quote:
Saloon owner Travis and doctor Grace find their lives utterly transformed when they fall into Eldh, a magical realm where they must defeat the Pale King…

Ain’t no “may” about it:

Quote:
But I reconnected Ford’s family and editors at Tor, and after a year of delicate back-and-forth spearheaded by Beth Meacham, Tor and the family have reached an agreement that will gradually bring all of his books back into print, plus a new volume of stories, poems, Christmas cards, and other uncollected material. First up, in fall 2020, is the book that introduced me to Ford, The Dragon Waiting. Then, in 2021, Tor will publish—at long last—the unfinished Aspects, with an introduction by Neil Gaiman.
(Boldface mine.)

Hooray! Then I'll have all the trouble living in the UK to actually get ebooks of the titles. Last I heard, Gollancz had the UK rights to The Dragon Waiting as it is (was?) part of the SF Masterworks series.

Terminal Alliance (Janitors of the Post-Apocalypse Book 1)
by Jim C. Hines

is $1.99 at U.S. stores

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Terminal-Alli...al-text&sr=8-1

Kobo: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/terminal-alliance

Below is the blurb:
In his hilarious new sci-fi series, Jim C. Hines introduces the unlikely heroes that may just save the galaxy: a crew of space janitors.

The Krakau came to Earth to invite humanity into a growing alliance of sentient species. However, they happened to arrive after a mutated plague wiped out half the planet, turned the rest into shambling, near-unstoppable animals, and basically destroyed human civilization. You know—your standard apocalypse.

The Krakau’s first impulse was to turn around and go home. (After all, it’s hard to have diplomatic relations with mindless savages who eat your diplomats.) Their second impulse was to try to fix us. Now, a century later, human beings might not be what they once were, but at least they’re no longer trying to eat everyone. Mostly.

Marion “Mops” Adamopoulos is surprisingly bright (for a human). As a Lieutenant on the Earth Mercenary Corps Ship Pufferfish, she’s in charge of the Shipboard Hygiene and Sanitation team. When a bioweapon attack wipes out the Krakau command crew and reverts the rest of the humans to their feral state, only Mops and her team are left with their minds intact.

Escaping the attacking aliens—not to mention her shambling crewmates—is only the beginning. Sure, Mops and her team of space janitors and plumbers can clean the ship as well as anyone, but flying the damn thing is another matter.

As they struggle to keep the Pufferfish functioning and find a cure for their crew, they stumble onto a conspiracy that could threaten the entire alliance… a conspiracy born from the truth of what happened on Earth all those years ago.

Jim C. Hines has proven himself a master of humorous fantasy with his Jig the Goblin novels, and has turned the usual fantasy tropes sideways and upside down with his Princess and his Magic Ex Libris series. With Terminal Alliance, the debut novel in his humorous military science fiction series, Jim takes us into a brand-new universe of entertainment certain to appeal to fans of both Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett.

The Outside by Ada Hoffmann is £0.99 on Angry Robot's website. Today only.

Quote:
Autistic scientist Yasira Shien has developed a radical new energy drive that could change the future of humanity. But when she activates it, reality warps, destroying the space station and everyone aboard. The AI Gods who rule the galaxy declare her work heretical, and Yasira is abducted by their agents. Instead of simply executing her, they offer mercy – if she’ll help them hunt down a bigger target: her own mysterious, vanished mentor. With her homeworld’s fate in the balance, Yasira must choose who to trust: the gods and their ruthless post-human angels, or the rebel scientist whose unorthodox mathematics could turn her world inside out.
