You can definitely still sideload books. Whatever you read about not being able to sideload with the new Kindles is not true.

Yes, they do. You can't send Kindle format files. And on other formats there is a size limitation. It's also inferior and less private than your own conversions, for which sideloading via USB still works.

I'm curious to know if a book (kfx) sideloaded with Calibre will maintain its colors in the cover and in the images/colored text inside. According to one review I saw yesterday, that's not the case for PDFs, only the ones sent with send to Kindle had colors.

This was discussed in another thread. We’ll need someone with a Colorsoft to confirm it, but I’d expect KFX files to show in color; it’s theorized that only the KFX renderer was updated to handle color, which would explain why sideloaded PDF files (which are rendered using another piece of software) are only displayed in greyscale.

But it’s all speculation until someone actually tries it.

I regard it as factual, at least with 99% confidence that it is. Why would they bother to update the PDF renderer?

I just got the colorsoft yesterday and I've tried the KFX format that I've been using for my scribe and it's not transferring the cover art over unfortunately.

If you check the personal document box in the KFX output, it seems to fix the issue of the cover not displaying.

I don't have that box checked and my kfx don't show up as documents, but they all have the covers if I plugin my Oasis to Calibre a second time
