RIP Author Greg Bear
SF author Greg Bear died yesterday after complications from heart surgery. He won the Nebula Award five times (!) and won at least one Hugo. He listed Ray Bradbury as his biggest influence.
He was also a co-founder of San Diego Comic-Con and wrote the Forerunner Saga of Halo books. Some of his stories blended SF and other genres. He also did some illustrations earlier in his career, including the cover for one of his books. |

I can't remember the first Greg Bear book I read, it seems like they have always been in my library - great stuff. RIP.

Eon is a classic. It has the scale Rendezvous with Rama, and is more exciting. I've been meaning to re-read it.

I have a lot of it. The ones I'm most interested in are Eon, The Forge of God, Darwin's Radio and Blood Music. I remember thinking of him as part of the 'B' team: Baxter, Bear, Benford, Bova and Brin. |

For anyone with a Kobo Plus subscription, his books that were published by Open Road Media are available. I've made use of it to replace quite a few of his books that I had as pbooks with ebooks. My bookcase has thanked me.
