Aura One uneven lighting
I've just gone back to my Aura One. Brightness is set to 28% and Natural Light is not set to auto and is about 2/3 over from left to right. It has distinct gray areas along both sides, wider on the left than on the right, maybe 1/2-2/3 inch wide on left and 1/3 or a bit more on right. The top half of the screen is a bit more orange/night and the bottom half more white/gray.
How does the Sage do for even lighting? Anyone have both to give an opinion based on direct comparison? Thanks for any input. |

My Sage is pretty uneven, but there have been reports here about even Sages too. So I guess it's 50/50 which one you'd get.

I like a lot about my Aura One but I'd like to have buttons. On the other hand I hate to give up my correct and proper shape for a square unit with buttons. The level of inconsistency varies from one reading session to another. Perhaps it hasn't changed and my eyes work differently at different times.

It's probably a screen lottery.
I remember a lot of folks had issues with uneven lighting on their Aura Ones, yet my Aura One is quite nice. And my Forma, another device people had troubles with early on (light wedge of woe), is free of that problem and quite even, though there is a very faint degree of halo on the side the LEDs are on, as apparently is also true for the Sage. I kind of hanker for a Sage, even though my Forma is not a year old yet, LOL! Mostly because I've found I've enjoyed having the optional buttons and especially the Dropbox support. Forma/Sage would make a great switch off combo, me thinks! So far, resisted both Sage sales. But for how long? Edit: It's worth mentioning that I did not buy my Aura One right after it came out, but waited several months before purchasing. Same for Forma, except I waited a LOT longer and only purchased on sale in fall of 2021, right before Sage was released. I had trepidations about the Forma, because of so many posts about the light strip, shadow, wedge of woe, only to end up being exceedingly pleased with the evenness of the screen! Either I got lucky, or Kobo does fix stuff over the course of production. FWIW. Last edited by graycyn; 05-03-2022 at 05:23 PM. Reason: additional content |
