Plato, alternative e-book reader (ePUB, PDF, DJVU) for Remarkable Tablet

Hi!

I've ported amazing Plato (by Baskerville) to Remarkable tablet:

https://github.com/darvin/plato

It supports ePUB, way way faster than built-in reader PDFs, DJVU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHdsqD4xxik
https://youtu.be/a2mqXTGGTDE

Binary download here:
https://github.com/darvin/plato/rele...ort-remarkable

Its opensource project, written in Rust, little bit rough at the moment. Feel free to ask me stuff, I'll gladly help and participate in development!

Things are missing at the moment:
Synchronization with built-in library
Nicer more user friendly packaging

One way:
  1. ssh into your reMarkable as root (ssh root@10.11.99.1, give your password as found under the about choice in the reMarkable system settings menu)
  2. in the root user home directory: mkdir plato
  3. Download the distribution zip archive from the link
  4. Unzip the downloaded archive on your local machine
  5. Using Cyberduck or winscp or some other scp tool, copy all folders from the expanded archive into the plato directory on your reMarakble ssh account
  6. Using ssh, go into the plato directory on your reMarkable ssh account "cd ~/plato" and then type the text "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./libs ./plato" and the app will launch on your reMarkable.

i tried step 6 and the reMarkable shell spit back an error: ./plato permission denied. any idea how / what am doing wrong. permissions are set to rw-r-r. thanks. also, all files i had on the table are now gone!

nevermind. i remembered there's a chmod command, so did chmod 700 on the directory and all its content. no permission denied anymore now, plato starts but complains : 'Can't load metadata: Can't open file.'

perhaps because there are no docs on the tablet as i still can't get the rM desktop app to sync all its content back onto the tablet. f*cking rM software sucks so bad.

Can't wait to give it a try, thank you!

Question - do you know if Plato handles epub3 files? (Columns, equations, graphs oh my! Or: graphic novels ) As of 3 years ago, mupdf (which Plato uses) did not and I haven't found any references to adoption of the new standard.
