Free (Kindle) Career Progression Guide for Soldiers [Military Self-Help]

Career Progression Guide For Soldiers: A Practical, Complete Guide for Getting Ahead in Today's Competitive Army by Audie G. Lewis is just what it says in the title, free courtesy of publisher Stackpole Books, who are perhaps joining the ranks of the regular freebie-providers, for which I thank them because it's nice to see some non-fiction variety.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians). Previous Stackpole freebies haven't shown up anywhere else, but it probably wouldn't hurt to check.

If you are interested in military history, they've another current freebie (I don't know whether this new one supplements or replaces it) which you might want to pick up if it's still available by the time you see this: Tigers in the Mud: The Combat Career of German Panzer Commander Otto Carius.

Description
This fully updated and expanded third edition is an ideal how-to book for soldiers wanting to attain rank in the service. Includes advice and proven techniques for improving duty performance and increasing promotion points, together with samples of forms and formats for applying for promotion and for appearing before promotion boards. Includes requirements for warrant officer and commissioned officer opportunities, and methods for overcoming obstacles to promotion.

About the Author: Audie G. Lewis is a product of this method. He entered the U.S. Army as a private and served as an NCO and as an officer. He currently resides in Florida.
