The Jingo satirizes simultaneously the lost-race/lost-world story and US know-how in a tale about a salesman selling his modern products to an obscure Antarctic civilization. In this spoof, reminiscent of Mark Twain’s “Connecticut Yankee”, Jimmy Smith is washed ashore in the isolated unknown country of Isola. Strange adventures lie ahead for Jimmy, the king, and the Princess Bezzanna as Jimmy, a self-proclaimed Jingo* and go-getter, introduces this quasi-medieval society to factory production, the telephone, American slang, new trends in women’s fashion, and baseball.
