Those prices are cheaper than the converted price in USD. That seems unusual to me.

EDIT: Especially since the Canadian prices don't have ads.

I won't complain. It might be because of Kobo. They probably needed to have the paper white at a competitive price.
And the Paperwhite seems to be less often discounted here.

Usually, "the Americas" is the term used when collectively referring to North America, Central America, and South America, while "America" typically refers to the USA.
