For Android I use the "no lock" app occasionally, when I don't want to do the pattern swipe to unlock the phone. There are, of course, security issues and I only use it when I listen to music or audio books and plan to use the screen often. Also great for the constant use of the calculator app (and preserving battery life). The new facial recognition feature as implemented in JB seems the best solution, though.

Just to extend my earlier comment, I have checked three devices, one running Jelly Bean, one running ICS and one running Cyanogen and they all have the option to disable the slide lock under the security settings.

On Facial recognition, even Google admits that it is not very secure. At least now with Jelly Bean there is the option to require a blink so you can't just use a picture to unlock it.

How about a picture with the eyes cut out so you can get behind it and blink?

Or flip between a pair of pictures with the eyes digitally painted closed in the second picture?
