Use readability technology to fetch news
J'd like to ask you why you don't incorporate readability technology to fetch news ?
because is: free (opensource) also used in safari reader works great. you can find out more on https://www.readability.com/ also you can install safari to check it out http://www.webmonkey.com/2010/06/saf...ifies-the-web/ This technology is very powerful and will a lot better extract news... here is source code : http://code.google.com/p/arc90labs-readability/ Last edited by xXxXxXxXxXx; 04-10-2011 at 10:10 AM. |

I don't really see the point. calibre's news system is extremely successful with ~ 900 news sources. Automated content extraction is never going to be as good/flexible as a well made recipe.
Readability would make it easier to create default recipes (with no customization) that look good, and as such, it's something worth doing, but I have much higher priorities. Patches welcome |
