Because the screen is bigger, the virtual keyboard is also bigger, hence easier to type than Nook classic.
Thanks for that. If B&N comes up with a word-processing app, I may kick myself for buying the much more expensive iPad.

As a tablet, and not ereader, Nook Color could be a nice alternative. It's price, weight and screen win by far; iPad is too heavy and in my opinion, over priced. NC just needs a nice Android or B&N Market and would be a serious contender.

If you are planning to get one, I would suggest wait 1 or 2 months. B&N will launch its own Android Market soon and the Os still has some problems. They just released the 1st firmware version recently so I won't be surprised of another major release in about 2 months or so. Some folks have reported problems turning pages or like me, a totally frozen or unresponsive browser when using Internet.

Thanks, but too late. I already bought the iPad, though I remain interest to see what the B&N app store will come up with. And you're right: an iPad is expensive if all you're looking for is a way to do word-processing on the fly.

I hope the promise of a B&N app store is more substantive than the Amazon promise of an app store for the Kindle has turned out to be.
