Near the top of that first post, you will find:

Software jail break for the 6th, 7th, and 8th generation devices listed in the title, running any known firmware version.

Which should not require any clarification (you can find PW3 in the title, that is you).

i don't understand how USBNetworks works...
i installed the mod but i can't log in with putty (actually if i try to ping the kindle ip i get 100% packet loss) i tried to change the ip on the config file with the wifi ip but still nothing
no response from kindle so i can't do anything
what i'm doing wrong?

Probably too much to tell based on that description.

Leave the config file alone, it works as is.

The IP address is different over the USB cable and over Wifi (yes, it is suppose to be different).

Try reading the directions included with the package (again).
Also, use the forum's prefix filter to list only 'tools' and/or 'tutorial' threads, pick those on the subject.
There is an awful lot written here about USB networking.

It is much easier to leave the config file alone -
That way the people who help you know exactly how it is set and how the Kindle should work.

Now if we could see over your shoulder, we wouldn't need you to try running in a known good configuration. But we can't see over your shoulder or channel into your mind.

So, yeah, get ssh (or at least telnet) working over the USB cable first.

IIRC ip packets are refused by the kindle firewall by default

echo "send 193" > /proc/keypad
but no keypad on pw2 so another fail

KindleLazy is both device and firmware specific.

I do not have a PW2, so I can't be of much help.

But you could be, post what firmware version you are running and a list of the event devices.

Any add-in packaged in an update_*.bin filename format package (other than the 'hotfix') must be re-installed after an Amazon update.

MrPI is a 'batch' mode package installer, put everything you want re-installed into /mrpackages, trigger MrPI, your done.
