Could we not call it an [insert product name] killer?
Also, prices are not finalized, and the 160 hour claim came from some crappy reporting that stated it would get 10x the power savings over its standard 16 hour runtime, which is not true. The 140 hour claim was basically audio only, which may imply a sort of functional standby, rather than "reflective mode" of the display. We don't know how these numbers will play out in the real world anyway since we don't have final software. |

I noticed the battery life listed on the website exactly match those listed on Nvidia's site for tegra 2:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/io_1262837617533.html Nvidia got those numbers testing on a 5 inch tablet (and even then it was probably best case scenario). I find it unlikely that a 10 inch tablet in transmissive (regular) mode would achieve the same numbers (16 hours hd video) unless 1) Pixel Qi has significantly lower power consumption compared to normal tablet/mid screens in regular mode as well or 2) 5 inch tablet Nvidia tested on wasted power in other ways. So we're still stuck with untested, vague, possibly just theoretical results, which shouldn't be too surprising. When there's a testable production unit available with final software, we'll find out about its real performance.
As far as the nvidia test on a 5 inch tablet, they don't mention the battery size or capacity of it either. |

Good point. I guess if the Adam battery is significantly larger (enough to make up for the difference in screen power draw) than the 5 inch tablet those numbers are still possible for the Adam.

Yep.
This site would be much better if people would quit calling things like this the Kindle/e-ink killer AND the e-ink crowd would quit with the "if it glows it blows" comments. Plenty of room for all types of devices that can display e-books on the market. Everyone has their own needs and preferences, and there are plenty of companies looking to make a buck by filling all those niches. |

Well to be fair, Gizmodo claims the chart they posted a snap of was provided by the company. Wherever that lack of consistency comes from, it's really undermining any credibility their claims have. Last edited by LDBoblo; 02-15-2010 at 04:38 PM. |
