The Stolen Crown by Susan Higginbotham, which is subtitled "The Secret Marriage that Forever Changed the Fate of England" is an historical primarily drama novel with apparently some romantic content, set during the War of the Roses, about Queen Elizabeth Woodville's sister, free courtesy of publisher Sourcebooks.

This is actually a freebie I'm quite pleased to see, as I rather enjoyed the previous Higginbotham historical freebie about the niece of Edward II when I read it last year, and I would cheerfully buy the lot of her books if they were put on sufficiently-discount special or offered as selections of Sourcebooks' Discover A New Love mostly-romance club which sells things mostly-worldwide DRM-free and has Audible-style monthly credits.

Currently free @ B&N, Amazon UK (likely to drop in the main store), and directly from the publisher in ADE-PDF (US & territorial addresses only). May also show up at Sony, iTunes, and All Romance/OmniLit.

Description (I think some overly ambitious copy-editor confused "tagline" with "blurb", because this is really all there is; to get a sense of the actual story, you're best off reading the not-really-spoilery-considering-these-are-very-dead-public-figures reviews)
Trapped in the Wars of the Roses, one woman finds herself sister to the queen…and traitor to the crown.

Yes, they do.

And Sony is the absolute worst about showing one price on the web and in the store, then upping the price once you inspect your cart.

Kobo, though, often shows one price on the search or book details page, then changes it once you click buy now (usually up, for me, but hubby's account often goes down - complete mystery, why it does either).

In fairness, they used to be more consistent. However, I do agree that this trend of "look, it's free -- wait, it's not!" pricing they're doing, is not endearing me to them at all. And I already disliked their store...
