I'm back. I couldn't keep away. My addiction to Mobileread is too strong. I would set up a Mobileread addicts' support thread, but that would be paradoxical.

At least I'm keeping one addiction under control: it has now been 22 days since I last bought an ebook!

Well, you could ask me about any ebook you spot me reading, and I can tell you when and where I bought it. But why you'd believe be then if you don't believe me now, I'm not sure!

I last bought an ebook from Fictionwise on 15th May 2011 — "Winter Moon" — using Store Credit from my other purchases from them on that day. (It was their 60% off sale, and I bought 103 books in total. It was then I thought I might have a problem!)

I last bought an ebook from Amazon on the 6th June 2011 — "Prince of Oak and Hazel", being the sequel to "ShadowMagic" which I bought on the 4th. And before that it was the 6th May.

And there are my subscriptions to magazines, of course (e.g. Analog, Asimov's).

My stats this year aren't too good:

Bought: 157
Read: 107

I now just hope to end the year having read more books than I've bought.

I also am protected against spending $ on books for the moment. I had cancelled a charge on my debit card last year only to have it pop up again recently so I had to go through my bank and get my debit card cancelled and a new one sent out to replace it. So currently unless it's a free book I can't buy it. Sort of helps to block the temptation for now though I do have my eye on two writing related ebooks that will require an expenditure of $$ in the future.

LOL Well, that's one way not to buy! I had that happen once, but instead of cancelling my card I paid $20 for a 30-day stop payment order through my bank, then threatened to sue the company trying to run the charge through. It worked, thankfully.

I've completely cut myself off from the Bargains & Freebies section for a bit. Too many bargains amidst the freebies to tempt me... Can't handle it.

I have been very good - caught in a 900 + page book so haven't bought anything for about 2 weeks. Not even feeling the need to buy, perhaps I am cured now?
