Thanks for your hints. I'll try that. Actually atm Amazon just cannot upldate my device as there is not enough space left for the update file.
I also followed the instructions, switching Airplane mode off and on when indicated. But I guess I have to clear space in order to get it done properly... Quote:

Here’s my process on PW3: ℹ️ I shared Wi-Fi through the hotspot on my phone. • Factory reset kindle • Select Language and Region • Plug Kindle into PC and copy Winterbreak files • Eject then unplug Kindle • Register kindle, No thanks to „Kid Friendly“, No thanks to „Kindle Unlimited“ • Turn on airplane mode and plug kindle into computer • Delete folder .active_context_sandbox • Eject & unplug Kindle • Reboot kindle • Turn off airplane mode • ❌ Download book from library & Download free book from Amazon Prime Reading. 💬 I didn’t have any books in the library and couldn’t figure out how to download a free book from Prime Reading. • Go to the kindle store with the Wi-Fi connected and browse around for 10 minutes. 💬 While in the Kindle store, I checked out various books, read descriptions, and downloaded a free sample from a random book. • Exit the store & let Kindle sleep for 30 minutes. • Plug kindle into computer to check if it is done generating the folder with its files, check the folder .active_content_sandbox > store > resource > cachedresources.💬 At this point, there were files called „secondary store“ and „index“, and „localstorage“ was also there. • Eject then unplug kindle • Turn on airplane mode • Plug kindle into computer • Copy the „index“ file from Winterbreak AND delete localstorage directory • Eject then unplug kindle & reboot • Open Kindle Store, turn off Airplane mode when promted. At last, bingo! |

I just used Winterbreak to jailbreak my 2019 Kindle basic, and that seems to have gone well. But I am now trying to use the screensaver hack. I tried the one from the old screensaver hack thread, but it did not work. I tried it several times. Is there an updated hack that is compatible with the Winterbreak method? Thanks.

But there is a solution. You can downgrade (https://kindlemodding.gitbook.io/kin...indle-firmware) your Kindle 10 (KT4) back to 5.16.2.1.1 (https://files.cocaine.trade/firmware/kindle/KT4/) which should work with the non-HF stuff. User beware of course so be careful. |

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware of my PW5 now that I have Winterbreak installed? Would like to go back to a firmware version before the annoying Home/Library split home screen came in, if at all possible.

I was following this guide but didn't to run the hotfix (step 5) and went further in the guide before running into issues installing KoReader.
Is *** SQUASH JB *** expected to show up on every boot? |

I have exactly the same problem with my Colorsoft. A few weeks ago I was able to successfully complete the process for my Paperwhite 11th generation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hey everyone,
I jailbreaked my Kindle Scribe recently, but I am not on the latest firmware update. Is there any way to safely update my firmware without screwing the jailbreak or my device up? I went to the KindleModding wiki, but it isn't quite clear enough on safely updating to a new firmware. I have already attempted to update by restoring the OTA binaries and moving the 5.7.13 firmware update to the root, but the update failed. What else am I meant to do? For what it may be worth, updating a PW4 (10th Gen) to 5.18.1 did not break WinterBreak. After the update, I re-installed the hotfix, KUAL and MRPI. KOReader worked with no additional work while USBNetLite needed a re-install. Without the re-install, I got network connection refused when connecting using Putty from my PC.
