A newbie to this forum, I am Oldbwl aka Dan. I live in a village called Old Ynysybwl and have been on the 'scene' since before the Web, having run large a large Buletin Board and was an active node in Fidonet (bet very few here remember that! LOL!)
Used to read a lot. then stopped almost completely, but now back a again with a vengeance, I have a Sony PRS-300 which serves a purpose, although I really do wish it had a few facilities I really miss (like search and find, or better bookmark management) but hey as reading goes it does me fine. I am irritated by the poor formatting of many public domain offerings and spend a lot of time addressing this. Like the look of this forum, I think I will lurk a while then see where I can dip in a toe or three. |

Hi Dan! Welcome to the MobileRead forums. I think you'll be very happy with the public domain books we have right here in the MR e-book download forum. Members have proofed these books, adjusted to look, and put them up in various formats for us to download and enjoy. Have look!

Can anyone whose name doesn't end in 'wl' post here?
And what's an Opsimath? Questions, questions... (Oh, hi, Dan!) |

Hi and welcome to MR Dan. BBS boards was a bit before my time. Talk about old school
What was it back then 14 k modems? I remember sitting on a 33.6 K modem. That was slow enough especially when it came to viewing pictures. Not too bad for viewing text. |

I even had a Technics 6 CD changer on which I loaded Minerva Disks with Shareware and free ware programs, Peeps would dial in to download progs all night long - with those speeds you had to be on all night. The phone bill costs were horrendous? LOL!!! |

Hi Dan and welcome to MobileRead. I remember Bulletin Board very well. In fact, I first got on line via Compuserve and a 9k modem that had been included in a package with a 60Mg hard drive. No graphics in those days and no eBook readers either.

b) I've looked up opsimath now. Hurrah, a new word, albeit one that no one will understand and Chrome doesn't recognize. |
