Well, Roadside Picnic was the inspiration for the Tarkovsky film Stalker, which was then the inspiration for the game series.

All 3 of Yoon Ha Lee's Machineries of Empire books are available at Amazon US for $0.99 each. First two were Hugo finalists. Haven't read the last one yet, but can recommend the first two. It takes a bit to get into, but definitely worth it.
