Hi JimmXinu,
Thanks for this plugin. I'm not sure if you are aware, but just to let you know, I couldn't find this plugin under Preferences > Plugins > Search where I usually enable a new plugin. I had to download the Zip file from your first post and upload... Inukami |

Use Preferences > Plugins > Get New Plugins or Preferences dropdown > Get Plugins when looking for new plugins. I just checked and EpubMerge does still show up on that list. |

Hello! First I'd like to thank you for the awesome plugin!
I just noticed that Epub Merge and Epub Split disappeared from my Calibre. There's nothing in the menu or context menu when I select multiple books. I have the latest versions of the plugins and calibre 3.39.1 installed. |

Placement of plugins in menus and toolbars are controlled by Calibre, not the plugins themselves.
Look in Calibre's Preferences > Toolbars & Menus to (re)add the plugins. There are a lot of different places you can place plugins which only show up in certain conditions--when device is attached, when it isn't, library context menu, split context menu, etc. It's not uncommon to add a plugin to to a conditional toolbar or menu and not realize the difference. |

I didn't remember having to add them manually before, that's why I was confused. Thanks again! Last edited by FiShCaKe; 02-17-2019 at 03:39 AM. |

Burps happen and the settings get lost. The question on where to put icons only gets asked upon the first time install (settings are preserved, even with after uninstalling a PI).

Problem with converting merged epub to mobi
I know Calibre is having some problems with the epub to mobi conversions. I rolled back to 3.45 and noticed that epubs that have been merged are throwing the error Spoiler:

I've also run into another encoding issue with v3.45.2 that works on v.3.44. Consequently, wonder if they aren't all related. |

I will try going back further. You might be right because this is a new problems. Calibre hasn't really rolled out new changes enough to warrant upgrading so it's not really a step down to do it. I'll just go back one at a time to find the last best update before the problems and report back. The initial problem I had was straight up Calibre not converting the epub to mobi files for some books regardless of them being merged. Once I rolled back to 3.45.0 the only books having problems are the ones that have been merged. So, I guess I will have to play around to find out when both work. Isn't too far back though. Update: I installed the latest version of Calibre that supposedly fixed the problems, but the epub merge still threw that error. I uninstalled and downgraded to 44.0 and it works fine. Kovid said he has a fix.
I haven't tested it--travelling. If you're setup to run from source, you could give it a try. |

I rolled back to 3.44 and initially I found no problems. Books were converting no problem. However, I ran into something strange converting larger merged into mobi files that I have never encountered before, even when converting the same style of books. According to Calibre a merged book will successfully convert to mobi, but when I open it up, only the cover is there. The file is the size it should be, but it's as if I only converted the cover and the rest of the book is missing. Even the side slide bar indicates that it's just the cover. However, if I upload it to my Kindle, I get a proper book as it should be. I haven't figured out what causes it, but it seems to only happen to epub merged books, and I suspect but haven't checked it out, but those books that were merged were edited to the point that there was nothing but the text of the book and the title page. I deleted all the other parts of a book that add extra bulk. I only just this moment came to this possible reason. I did do a couple of quick merges of random "virgin" epubs which converted fine. So, make of it what you will. Other than that, no problems. |

Could you add an option to delete the second book? That way it's only the metadata that is merged?
