PW Touchscreen Hacks
Anyone planning on developing customizations for the capacitive touch screen interface? Specifically, I'd love to see:
I'd take a stab at it if my development experience were more hardware than software based. |

both of these sound very much like JBpatch type things.
perhaps wait until the device is out as possibly a helper waf could manage the lights in the way you describe. HTH |

'tis good advice. I'm a newb on the forum, but not new to modding. I've hacked/rooted/modded my phone, tablet, wii, watch, car, Kindle3 and IPphone at work.

Hah! I love music and computers. And this is much easier to use for obtaining domains and usernames than digimusic. Just a little harder to explain over the phone. "Yes... music with a z and a k."

Why is it people want hacks for a device that's just being released? It sounds like the OP wants hacks before the device is released. This is just silly. You have to give the device time to get into the hands of the hackers and time for them to actually hack the device if it's possible.

It's not just Kindles. It's other readers as well. The T2 was asked about being hacked right after release as well.

So what eReader do you use? Your current avatar looks like an iphone or ipod touch.

The only place that hardware is dealt with is inside of the operating system kernel. Everything else is software. In fact, even the system kernel is software. Let us know what problems you have modifying the event software path to do those things you want to have happen. |

Currently 2 finger pinch zoom gestures change the font size, which is very cool.

Might be doable, but don't hold your breath. There is an active (internal) discussion about how to get full access to the device, and how to jailbreak it. And for once, I have to agree with JSWolf: the device has been out for a mere 2 days now, and most of the devs (including myself) are still waiting to even receive it. To expect that there are ready-to-use hacks at this time is just ridiculous - heck, we don't even know how to jailbreak that thing yet! |
