Just watching the opening ceremony (Robbie Williams? Don't Russia have their own singers?). If I was a gambling man, my money would be on Germany again - who's your tip?

I made sure to listen to the Football Weekly previews earlier this week and I am sort of on the Barry Glendenning side of things - how will England find a new way to flop spectacularly?

I think Brazil are very good, and could show up in a final against Germany for sure.

The first half of this Russia/Saudi game has been pretty painful though.

I like Barry Glendenning, he co-hosts a radio program I listen to while cooking Sunday lunch. He's often introduced as "not as fat as he sounds" . I think he's right though, it's really not a question of whether England will make fools of themselves, but how.

3-0 to the Russians now, but I doubt this will be the best quality game we see this World Cup.

Well, two good goals near the end made it a bit better, but Saudi Arabia were truly awful.

That game was horrendous for the Saudis. Though the US broadcasters were not-so-subtly implying that the Russians were capital-E expected by Putin to show the world how great the motherland is. I am glad that their home fans got a dazzler, but I imagine it is downhill for them now.

England won it at home in 1966, for the first and only time; so, why not Russia at home in 2018.

If France can play as a team they should win.

Well, Super Mo on the bench against Uruguay, so not fully fit you would have to assume.

He has. And as a Liverpool fan, I am thoroughly enjoying it. When he gets angry, he gets stupid, so a girl can dream.

Also, Cavani has been terribly poor as well. I expected better of him.

That was such an upsetting result for Egypt. Salah's face said it all. They just lost all composure there at the end.

I know NOTHING about Iran or Morocco, so I will be interested in how this next one goes. Little palate cleanser before the big boys play this afternoon.
