Amazon Announces Plans for Cyber Monday Sale

Posted on 11/24/22

Amazon has put out a press release detailing plans for their Cyber Monday sale. Some highlights: as it did the last two years, the sale will start the day after Black Friday on Saturday, November 26th and will run through Cyber Monday on November 28th.

Amazon promises new "surprise savings" dropping every half hour during select periods of the sale. The press release contains a long list of deals, many of which are very similar as they have been having & will have later this week for their Black Friday sale.

Target Announces Cyber Monday Sale

Posted on 11/25/22

Target announced plans for their Cyber Monday this morning. The sale, which will kick off this Sunday, will feature hundreds of thousands of deals. Besides the 2-day deals, there will also special Monday-only deals. See the press release for a list of some of these deals.

We also posted Target's 43-page sale ad for next week. This ad gives us details of Target's post-Black Friday plans. They'll continue their week=long deals all December long. They will also have a Target Circle offer for 10% off Target gift cards on December 3rd and 4th.

"Ruined"? A sale is a sale is a sale. Retailers have made it less of an event, sure, by extending the sales period, but why is that bad? I'm glad to take advantage of a sale, whenever it comes along.

You kind of answered yourself there. Before Black Friday was chock full of really special sales you'd never see any other time of the year. It was exciting and even fun looking at the great deals and buying things during it. Now it's "[a] sale is a sale is a sale" and pretty boring.

I don't consider shopping someplace to get excitement from. But I will always take advantage of saving some money no matter what time of year it is. There is nothing to be ruined, just money hopefully to be saved while acquiring things that are needed or simply wanted.

People pushing through doors to get the handful of items in stock with the super low price? Or, the online equivalent, hitting refresh for an hour, finally getting the item in your cart, and then having it sell out while you're trying to check out? Boring is preferable!

Retailers created it because shoppers are shopping for the holidays. Like it or not, it's the big season for gifts.

Are you saying that you don't have fond memories of reading about people dieing from the crush in the crowd outside the walmart as it opened?

Growing up in SoCal, WalMart didn't move in until the '90's and didn't move in to my area until the 2000's. So I had a blessedly Walmart-free childhood.

I don't really remember people making a big fuss about Black Friday until the 2,000's, after I had moved to Texas. When retailers started opening on Thanksgiving day, that's when it got too crass for me.
