No of threads displayed

Is there a setting to control the number of threads displayed on a forum page?

If there is, I probably need a screen shot (or new glasses), because I've looked for it but couldn't see it.

The setting to control the number of posts shown in a thread has no effect.

Do you mean that

User Control Panel -> Edit Options -> Thread Display Options -> Numbers of Posts to Show per Page

does have no effect?

No, that only effects the number of posts one sees within a thread, as the description says

I'm looking for the one that says

What forum DISPLAY MODE (each forum frame top right)?

I disliked the way the board threaded and now only use 'Linear '

(I got used to Forte Agents (a NNTP reader) and have yet to find a WEB based board that I like as well.
BTW PAN (linux) may look like Agent

I don't think there is a "thread count" equivalent setting.
