Paperwhite Search Bug

Hi there,

I have experienced the below a couple of times on my Paperwhite. I'd appreciate it if someone could confirm this happens on theirs also and then I'll contact Amazon.

As an example,say I am on page 300 of a book. I use the Search feature to look up a character name within the same book. A number of search results are found, and I select one of the earlier entries, for example at page 10 of the book. I then press the Back arrow to return to page 300. When I tap to change the page it takes me to page 11 instead of page 301.

Does this happen for anyone else? It's like the Back button isn't resetting the correct reading position after a search.

Have you installed the 5.3.1 firmware update? It fixes a few minor bugs - this may well be among them. I had the occasional issue with the light not turning on when I switched the PW on, or not turning off with I turned it off (needed a reboot to fix); the update's fixed that.

Yes, I believe that's installed.

Can you reproduce that every time? Maybe your book is at fault.

It's happened in two different books, and I think thats the only two times I have used the search in this manner.

I was posting here to see if anyone else can recreate.

Just tested and mine's fine. Could you check what the firmware version is? ("Home/Menu/Settings/Menu/Device Info")

I'll check later as it is at home at present. I'm pretty sure it was the current .1 version.

Before you search, place a bookmark at the current page. Then you can always return to where you were.

I just tested it in 2 of my books and mine is fine too. Have you tried a reset?
