Manga Conversion

Hi, I have recently started using calibre for my ebooks and manga. I am trying to convert my manga (.cbc format) to an ebook format (either .mobi or .epub).

I have done the following: 1. Convert my manga chapters to cbz. 2. Compress chapters into a Volume (number).cbc. 3. Add a comics.txt to the Volume (number).cbc. 4. Import Volume (number).cbc into Calibre. 5. Convert Volume (number) into either .epub or .mobi.

calibre.utils.zipfile.BadZipfile: File is not a zip file

What did you use to do the compression - if it was something like WinRAR or 7zip make sure it is configured to output a ZIP and not a RAR or a 7z etc.

I used WinRAR, but when i did the converting I changed it to .cbz.

I read this in the calibre user manual: "A comic book collection is a .cbc file. A .cbc file is a zip file that contains other CBZ/CBR files. In addition the .cbc file must contain a simple text file called comics.txt, encoded in UTF-8. The comics.txt file must contain a list of the comics files inside the .cbc file, in the form filename:title, as shown below"

I thought that i had to put the .cbz manga's into a .cbc file then import into calibre.

But what was the format of the file that you renamed? If it was a ZIP file you need to rename it to "cbz"; if it was a RAR file you need to rename it to "cbr".

It was originally a ZIP file, that is why i renamed it to ".cbz".

Use the Info tool in WinRAR to discover if non-basic options were used on your cbz

@Guava10 - why not use the Windows zipper - producing simple zips is all it can do, which is all that's required here.

With WinRAR it's not that hard to create a RAR or RAR5 with an extension of ZIP - such a file will produce the error you got.
