When you download a book from Kobo, you get an ACSM file that you have to redeem in ADE. You can install this Calibre plugin:

https://github.com/Leseratte10/acsm-...lugin/releases

so that you can open ACSM files in Calibre, instead of ADE, and then you can send the books from Calibre to your Forma. If you got ADE working again, then you don't need to do this.

I just now was able to download an ebook from Kobo to ADE 2.0 then drag the new ebook from the ADE 2.0 Library to the Kobo ereader and it appears to be on the Kobo ereader in good shape.

This suggests that the ADE 2.0 folder was corrupted and the new folder might allow ADE 2.0 to start working like it should.

Any thoughts?

Fingers crossed.
I faced a similar issue with ADE 4.5. The solution was indeed to rename the ADE folder to force ADE to re-create one and it worked again.

Good point. Renaming or deleting the ADE folder is probably sufficient so there is no need to uninstall and reinstall ADE itself.

The problem is that as ADE slows down, you have to wait longer for it to read the directory full of books. My guess is anyone having a problem is not waiting long enough for ADE to respond.

Maybe, but I don't think so.

I'm not sure what the delay is from, but I recently purchased a new desktop, with a fresh install, and the load time is quite a while.

And I had the blank library very early on (probably less then 10 books). Unless I had to wait more then 5 minutes, it wasn't due to slowness due to number of books in the library.

And now I'm wondering if the slowness is due to the ADE library folder being under OneDrive?

I've used Winaero Tweaker to stop Onedrive from moving anything in users off of my computer.

But if you are having to talk to OneDrive for ADE, then that would make it even slower. ADE has to read the thumbnails in Thumbnails, the books, and the XML files in Tags. I don't know if the annotations in Annotations have to be read on startup of ADE. So give it can be slow on your local system, having to do this over the net can be much slower.

I've never noticed ADE 2.0 being slow; however, I only have a few ebooks there.

It's not slow with just a few eBooks. But eventually it will get slower.

I currently have 5 books in my ADE library. It is taking 7-10 seconds to load. If I turn off wifi, it loads "instantaneously". My computer isn't linked to OneDrive.
