[Solved] Downloading update problem - OSX El Capitan

I am trying (unsuccessfully) to download the Calibre app update to Mac El Capitan (Mac 10.11) and I keep getting the message 'calibre app. is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to trash". I use Calibre a lot - I think it's brilliant - but what can i do about this? Would much appreciate help!

I have solved the problem!

It seems that in updating to El Capitan (about which I have mixed feelings) the download security configuration had gone back to default, i.e. only allowing downloads from apple. By changing the instructions to "download from anywhere"
then downloading Calibre, all was well.
FYI
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, then click General.
