Overcast and chilly today, which actually isn't bad for January.

Another polar air mass heading toward us - temps for the rest of the week to be frigid again!

Drove my son back to school. The weather was fine when we left, but we soon ran into sleet, snow, and gusty winds. The minivan hates gusty winds!
Yep, we're due for a "winter storm" tomorrow, followed by extreme low temps. |

It's hot hot hot here - it was 36 and 39 on the weekend, 37 yesterday, 38 today and tomorrow, and no relief in sight: 36/34/35 after that. Not much in the way of sea breezes, and hot hot nights: it was still 35 at sundown last night. Not as hot as the hottest night on record (last week, with a minimum of 29.7 just after 3 am, after a daytime max of 43), but more persistent.
My poor chooks are not very happy, despite ice in their water, frozen fruit, and occasional dampening-down of their shade trees. Worse, though, there seems to be a new fire threatening lives and homes nearly every day. The fireys are working very, very hard in punishing conditions. |

A brisk chill breeze blows. It's also cloudy with rain threatening.

Someone keeps pushing the Reset button on our weather:
1. Warmest day = Monday 2. Arctic air mass moves in, with or without snow, on Tuesday. 3. Temps continue plunging through Friday into single digit lows. 4. Gradual warm up on weekend 5. Warmest day = Monday 6. Repeat steps 2-4. A long range forecast predicts this weather pattern will persist THROUGHOUT February! Damn you jet stream! Stop sagging! *can we buy a training bra for the jet stream?* |

Looks like we have about 10 inches of snow, so far. At least it's a light, powdery snow.
The temperature has been falling most of the day. It's about 14° F right now, and getting colder. |

Still pouring rain here - temps remaining stubbornly above freezing - which means we'll end up tomorrow morning with a black ice skating rink to deal with on the roads.
[Aren't you glad you're now house bound Tom?] |

Quote:
The bad thing about this snow is that even though it should end around three in the morning, the temps are going to stay in the lower thirties all day. Whatever falls before then isn't going anywhere. |
