Free (Kindle DRM-free) An Older Man by Wayne Hoffman [LGBT Literary/Men's Fiction]

An Older Man by activist, journalist, and MR member-acquaintance author Wayne Hoffman (not to be confused with the celebrity mentalist who has the namesake Wikipedia article), is his literary/men's fiction personal drama novella with possible m/m romantic comedy elements involving the obligatory vacation week journey of self-discovery of a gay man reluctantly transitioning from his self-image of youthful appeal to potential partners into a more mature type, whether he likes it or not, free courtesy of LGBT specialty publisher Lethe Press' Bear Bones Books imprint.

This is a sequel to his prior literary drama novel set during the 1990s post-AIDS crisis, Hard, which was also previously offered free, directly following one of the featured characters two decades later, and explores themes of ageing and loneliness, according to one of the editorial reviews, so YMMV if you were hoping for a romantic holiday fling sort of HEA. The customer reviews mention that this can be read perfectly well standalone with no prior acquaintance with the earlier novel, and despite the potentially downer subject matter, has a decided touch of humour in the depictions of the Bear Week event.

Currently free (and DRM-free) @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and likely everywhere else that Amazon sells worldwide, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program)

And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Because it's nice to get some more diversity in the selection and thematic matter of things we're offered and also as follow-ups to things we've already gotten previously, especially for Gentle Readers who enjoyed the previous freebie and wanted to know more about how the characters' lives turned out. Also, the author gets bonus points for having 1 degree of separation from one of us.

Enjoy!

Description
Moe Pearlman — once the 20-something protagonist of Hard — is now over 40, overweight, and going gray. For someone used to being the adorable younger guy chasing after older men, that’s not particularly easy. But Moe’s whole conception of himself is challenged when he spends Bear Week in Provincetown, an event that brings thousands of men to the tip of Cape Cod the week after Independence Day.

Still singular in his focus and sexual appetites, Moe hopes he’ll find a hot older guy — at tea dance, walking down Commercial Street, or cruising the Dick Dock — and have an intense summer fling. But things aren't going exactly as planned. Joining him on vacation is Moe’s ex-lover Gene and Gene’s new boyfriend Carlos, so Moe has no reason to feel lonely, but when the older objects of Moe’s affection start looking right past him in favor of younger rivals, Moe is shaken to the core.

One thing is certain: When Moe gets on the ferry to go home after a week in Provincetown, he won't be the same man he was when he arrived.
