[Old Thread] Android plugin 0.8.3 does not detect Samsung Galaxy SII I9100
Hi,
as written in the sticky, I made sure that the android plugin is working (actually, if I plug in my HTC Desire, that device is recognized) The Galaxy SII exposes its internal flash memory as drive "G" on my machine, and the additional SD-Card is mounted as drive "K". Here is the output from "debug device detection": Version: 0.8.3 USB devices on system: [u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid2939&rev0003', u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid2936&rev0003', u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid2935&rev0003', u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid2934&rev0003', u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid2937&rev0003', u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid2938&rev0003', u'usb\\root_hub20&vid8086&pid293a&rev0003', u'usb\\root_hub20&vid8086&pid293c&rev0003', u'usb\\vid_045e&pid_0023&rev_0121', u'usb\\vid_04e8&pid_685e&rev_0400', u'usb\\vid_04e8&pid_685e&rev_0400&adb', u'usb\\vid_04e8&pid_685e&rev_0400&mi_00&class_08&s ubclass_06&prot_50', u'usb\\vid_04e8&pid_685e&rev_0400&modem', u'usb\\vid_04f2&pid_b044&rev_1106', u'usb\\vid_04f2&pid_b044&rev_1106&mi_00', u'usb\\vid_0a12&pid_0001&rev_1958', u'usb\\vid_0bda&pid_0158&rev_5887'] Drives detected: (0) G:\ ~ \\?\STORAGE#VOLUME#1&19F7E59C&0&_??_USBSTOR#DISK&V EN_ANDROID&PROD___UMS_COMPOSITE&REV___00#7&2C5072C F&0&304D19E1425E9C4E&0#{53F56307-B6BF-11D0-94F2-00A0C91EFB8B}#{53F5630D-B6BF-11D0-94F2-00A0C91EFB8B} (1) K:\ ~ \\?\STORAGE#VOLUME#1&19F7E59C&0&_??_USBSTOR#DISK&V EN_ANDROID&PROD___UMS_COMPOSITE&REV___00#7&2C5072C F&0&304D19E1425E9C4E&1#{53F56307-B6BF-11D0-94F2-00A0C91EFB8B}#{53F5630D-B6BF-11D0-94F2-00A0C91EFB8B} Available plugins: ALEX ALURATEK_COLOR ANDROID ARCHOS7O AVANT AZBOOKA BAMBOOK BLACKBERRY BOEYE_BDX BOEYE_BEX BOOQ BOOX COOL_ER CYBOOK DBOOK E52 E71X EB511 EB600 EBK52 ECLICTO EDGE EEEREADER ELONEX ESLICK FOLDER_DEVICE_FOR_CONFIG GEMEI GER2 HANLINV3 HANLINV5 ILIAD INVESBOOK IPAPYRUS IREXDR1000 IREXDR800 IRIVER_STORY ITALICA ITUNES JETBOOK JETBOOK_MINI KINDLE KINDLE2 KINDLE_DX KOBO LUMIREAD MENTOR MIBUK N516 N770 N810 NEWSMY NEXTBOOK NOOK NOOK_COLOR NOOK_TSR NUUT2 ORIZON PALMPRE PDNOVEL PDNOVEL_KOBO PICO POCKETBOOK301 POCKETBOOK360 POCKETBOOK602 POCKETBOOK701 PRS505 README S60 SHINEBOOK SNE SOVOS SPECTRA STASH SUNSTECH_EB700 SWEEX TECLAST_K3 THEBOOK TREKSTOR USER_DEFINED VELOCITYMICRO WEXLER Looking for devices... It could be that the USB Id's are not recognised. Until/Unless Calibre gets the Id's added, you could use the User Defined Interface USB Driver plugin and configure it to match your device.

Just out of curiosity (and because this issue is solved), I'll go a little off-topic: Does anyone have a count on how many devices are supported by Calibre? I have the feeling that there are one or two added every release.

A bit of quick coding produces the number 232.

I'm impressed. That's a lot of different hardware.

I am guessing that phone model variants account for a lot of them.
I still find it amazing, since the manufacturers don't fall over themselves getting Kovid/crew delivered samples to get their model 'supported' for the "Read Books Feature". |

I counted USB IDs, so indeed some are variants of a device. 76 are android phones, 12 are blackberries, 9 are apple devices, and then it dribbles off from there.

Calibre 8.4 does not work with my Unbranded Samsung Galaxy S II , below is the debug info
With my i9100 connected i can browse the external sd in Kies mode , and i can browse the internal and external sd memory in storage mode. EDIT : Also posted with nothing connected to notebook usb at the bottom I use calibre with my Kindle DX all the time and it works fine, But i have run the Wizard for an Android device/ mobile phone. You need to post the debug output once with the phone in mass storage mode and once with the phone disconnected.
