Getting close to the end of Ulysses. And I finally got to meet Mrs Bloom, yay! So far the book was written from a definitely male perspective, though there was that episode with the girl on the beach, what's her name... Anyway, I'm glad to see that Joyce can do women too

Just finished with the first in the Rizolli & Isles series, The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen. Isles isn't introduced yet and the focus is not on Rizolli but her collegue Moore. But is was a very good read and I'm very curious how the series will continue.

I'm a bit tired of series so the next book will be Stephen King's The Shining. I've read it several times already but it has been a couple of years and after all the detective and crime books I've read recently I feel the need for something a bit different.

I'm struggling a bit with "The Road".

Long sentences with a paucity of commas, no speech marks - reminds me of James Joyce's style ...; and seemingly back-tracking in time without any change in paragraph (though I can maybe blame that on conversion from pdf to mobi)

Does that explain why I loved The Road?

And I read recently that his recent books (including The Road) are much more mainstream and accessible than his earlier ones. I bought Blood Meridian a while back and plan to read it... some day... after I finish Ulysses (any time now ).

in the middle of - catching fire: hunger games book 2.

must say i went into this thinking that i was going to be a sad rip of battle royale and lord of flies.

i have been very pleasantly surprised.

this so far is one of the better series that i have ever read.

granted i am not the most sophisticatedly literate thespian on the planet, but this is absolutely engrossing and very endearing...so far.

once i finish book 3, then i will come back and amend the praise if need be.
