Post deleting multiple ebooks

I want to bulk delete batches of the books on my keyboard 3G.
Can I simply delete the files from the Kindle's Documents folder (having deleted the collections they were in)

Or would this result in disaster?

reason for the bulk delete is to get my collections into lastname/firstname author order, which calibre can do but imports a second copy

If you know what the file names are that you want to delete, there's absolutely no reason you can't delete them in bulk from the documents folder when the Kindle is attached to your PC.

If you want to delete them all, a Factory Restore will take care of it. You may need to re-register the Kindle to your account.

There's no "may" about it . You will need to re-register after a factory reset.

Thanks everyone - I hoped that I could just delete from the Documents folder (after all this is how I add DRM'd books) and am relieved to learn that I can.

I don't want to delete everything - just one collection's worth (20-100 titles) at a time so that I can re-import via calibre in proper 'author sort' order.
