So, they are basically hiring without paying you. Wouldn't they just be better of to open source everything (perhaps they can't since they use OEM)?

Sounds like they want free programmers. I believe Astak is also looking for a programmer with Hanlin experience and I believe they might even be willing to pay a salary. I know its old school.
