SF: Poul Anderson

For fans of "old time" science fiction, Baen is publishing (DRM-free) all of Poul Anderson's Nicholas Van Rijn stories in three volumes (e-books). For the first one (price: $6), see:

You can buy it using the link above for $6, but for me either of the following links are better deals:

http://www.webscription.net/p-1085-w...scription.aspx
http://www.webscription.net/p-810-w2...scription.aspx

Using these links you buy a bundle of seven books including the Van Rijn Method for $15. That's barely over $2.20 apiece for one book out in hardback and six excellent paperbacks.

Do I sound like a huckster or what? But i do love Baen books and I love their DRM-free webscriptions bundles of books for $15 for the entire bundle.

Indeed, it appears as though they intend to publish all of Mr. Anderson's sweeping future history. The first three The Van Rijn Method, David Falkayn: Star Trader, and Rise of the Terran Empire are already available and beginning in January we will see the return of one of my favorite characters in all of Science Fiction Captain Sir Dominic Flandry.

These ebooks are collections of short stories, novellas, and full books and, to the best of my knowledge, comprise the entire works of Mr. Anderson on the Polesotechnic League.

ekaser was already kind enough to give you the link to the first book in the series The Van Rijn Method, it will also be available as part of the December 2009 Webscription http://www.webscription.net/p-1085-w...scription.aspx along with 6 other books for $15.

The second book in the series David Falkayn: Star Trader is available here http://www.webscription.net/p-872-da...ar-trader.aspx for $6 or as part of the January 2009 Webscription http://www.webscription.net/p-875-w2...scription.aspx along with 6 other books for $15.

The third and final book of the Polesotechnic League is Rise of the Terran Empire http://www.webscription.net/p-990-ri...an-empire.aspx for $6 or as part of the June 2009 Webscription http://www.webscription.net/p-992-w2...scription.aspx along with 5 other books for $15.

Nicholas van Rijn was certainly one of the most distinctive characters of Science Fiction and I heartily recommend this very fine collection.

Coming up in January we have Young Flandry followed closely by Captain Flandry: Defender of the Terran Empire in Febuary. It is all very exciting!

I've started reading The Van Rijn Method and to be honest the first few stories are pretty boring (although they don't have Van Rijn yet).
