I am leaving mine up for a while (a lot?) longer this year. I found that I really enjoyed having the house lit up during the cold evenings after work in January last year; it was a bit more cheerful.

I leave the outside lights up until February - it really is cheering to have them during January ....

Still putting together Ikea furniture for the Spawn's bedroom. They have a lot of crap things to organise in a small space, so we got the furniture to organise it, but it took them so long to move their crap stuff so that I can put the furniture in, I'm still building it. (And probably will be tomorrow as well.

If it were up to me, the holiday decorations would never be taken down. Of course, if it were up to me, they'd never be put up in the first place.

Planning a dive trip. We haven't gotten our gills wet in the past six months, so I think it's time we do! Or at least, my wife thinks it's time we do.

She's discovered a nice old fashion bungalow resort The Nature Beach Resort, on an island in the Gulf of Thailand, part of the Mu Ko Chang National Park, on the island of Koh Chang, and has decided that we need a few days underwater to rejuvenate. Can't say that I oppose the idea... Although developed, Koh Chang has escaped the devastation caused by the hordes of Packpack Travelers who flock to Koh Phangan every year for the Full Moon Party or Koh Tao thinking they will see Leonardo DiCapprio hiding on 'The Beach.'

Looks as if it's going to take a 1-hour flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, a 9-hour bus from Bangkok to Trat, then a 1-hour ferry to the island, then a 20 minute jitney ride to the resort. Not too bad for S.E. Asian vacation travel! I'm ready...

It's not so bad. Asian bus travel 'can' be the old open rickety hot and dusty rides for 10 cents for 500k, or... the new VIP buses. Reclining seats with as much room as business class on a good airline, with air/con, first run movies, clean toilets, food served, etc... for 50 cents for 500k. No more water buffalo rides. How times do change!

It's not so much the assembly, it's the moving everything else (including the curious dog) that's the trouble. That, and the paper cuts you get from unpacking the stuff. Any assembler entering the Wiggle abode would either run away screaming, or charge quadruple.

Just finished trimming the cats' nails .... never know if they will object or just lie there watching .... tonight was relatively calm .... although Sammie screeches & moans throughout the entire procedure.
