What lighting setup are you using for these pictures? You seem to have more saturated colours than I'm getting in my photos.

Good argument,
However, they could make the black one matte. Less nice looking, but more practical.
Their original jetbook was black matte. Their jetbook mini was gloss, and back matte, with some engravings in gloss, to give it a less boring impression.

I find that reflections on housing is always disturbing,though not by much.
I find if the border looks whiter than a page,especially when reading outside in full sunlight, is bothersome to the eyes.

I don't think, one will keep a reader for such a long timespan considering the technical progress. Moreover you can put it in a (dark) cover, which hides the bezel.

Oh believe me, I'd far rather have a matte textured black surround - good contrast with the screen and no reflections. But everything has to be shiny and glossy nowadays, it's the law.

Just got mine today (ordered on Feb. 3) - there's a sticker on the box: "Make sure to update your device on March 1st & April 1st for even more cool features and functions." No clue as to what's coming then.

to everyone so far for posting so much information - since the actual manual still appears to be in Russian, and only a 4 page quick start pamphlet available in English.

I'll post more after I have time to play with it.

I would hope that the web browser would be in one of the updates or I'll be a bit miffed. It still makes a good large format reader without but I was hoping to be able to check GMail on it, and I've got used to loading stuff wirelessly on my Sony PRS-T1 from Dropbox.

I was under the impression that people are waiting more for receiving what they ordered (1 month).

Since Amazon seems to NOT be further developing the DX, I've been exploring alternatives for large-screen eInk readers. The color jetbook was an impulse buy - mainly b/c it appears that Ectaco is actively developing features on a large screen eInk device.
Due to lifelong problems with migraines & eye strain issues, eInk screens are a must for me. The larger the better.

I think people had pre-ordered it - and experienced the initial long delays. My unit shipped out of NJ.

Have you looked for an alternative to the LCD display of your computer? What else did you find?

I was trolling the ectaco forums and found this post about speed thought I'd share http://www.ectaco.com/posts/list/77639.page

I would think the response time has something to do with the screen size? I remember my small tube tv booted up in a second but my flat screen takes like 30 seconds.

This is actually in my room. I have a ceiling lamp and a lamp at the far left side of my desk. I just stand the unit up and take the pics with my phone. You're pics are very detailed but it seems your room lacks light. Try different areas.

I took the unit into work this morning and we had a meeting where i loaded a few PDF's for a presentation and everyone was blown away **pat on the back for me!** - the screen is a lot whiter when there's a lot of light around, which the white casing slightly takes away from, but it's not that noticeable when you get into the device itself. My office is considering getting everyone a jetbook color now to use for storing documents
