Why put all that effort into parsing one word processor's output and translating it to PDF on the device, when the word processor can do that itself? You're bound to get it wrong on the device, you add to the cost of the device when the software development costs are factored in, you risk annoying everyone else who uses a different word processor, and you still just output an annotated PDF file at the end anyway. Sony have enough trouble producing a usable PDF application for the device, I don't see them taking on this gigantic software task just to save people the small effort of exporting their documents to PDF in their native applications.

Sony is now showing DPT-CP1 at their exhibition. Disappointingly its firmware is exactly the same as that of DPT-RP1, still lacking table of contents.

It was reported that Sony was showing prototype.

2. SMALL battery.
3. Only 5.9mm thin.
4. Designed in Japan.

and light case that doesn't have to be made rigid enough to protect glass.

I asked one who went to the exhibition because I'm not living in Japan. He said the firmware is exactly the same with the current DPT-RP1 firmware.

Posting as a PSA - This information is out there in a couple of places, but easy to miss and for me, mostly downplayed it relative to my experience.

There is a visible grid on the screen that does not go away, though if you hold the device far enough away you can't see it. It is still visible to me holding the device about 1 foot away. My understanding is it is a sensor grid for the pen. If buying either 2nd gen Sony as an ebook device, this is something to consider.

It was annoying enough for me using the device as an ebook reader that I returned the device. I previously owned the DPT-S1 (used for years and sold it about 6 months ago), and do not remember ever noticing anything similar.
