Agreed - I will continue to keep my library on Calibre. I want 10 books of 5 genres on my kindle at a time - and it bugs me that the home page is home pages. If I can fit the collections on one page, I can click on Mystery or Romance and go right to my top pick.

@Bluesman7: Don't you absolutely adore Calibre? (And are you a blues musician?) |

I like the collections feature, and while it takes sometime to set a collection system (in a kindle that has a lot of books) once set up, it takes seconds to add/delete a book. Not sure where the 2 minutes comes from
I have the home page set up so my first Collection, called "kindle library" contains ALL my books (except for calibre catalog which cannot be put into a collection but have asked kovid about that but he doesnt have the update yet either Sydney's mom) ) The collection that stays at the top contains your current read, so when I read a book, I read it from this folder - this forces it to stay on top. The next 9 categories are genres - these fit on the home page. On the next page, I have a lot of books written by the same author, so for a few authors, and for series of books I want to read in the right order, these are all in author folders. I had 26 home pages before, now I only have two! Social networking - meh, can do without it. (Just for info, in Australia, there have been two murders of young girls by men whom they met on facebook.) I now have full internet access but prefer the iphone by far. Wont use it. I dont see this update as removing the need for Calibre either. Some of the Amazon titles are just stupid. One thing I have noticed, is those titles that are really long and get cut off (assuming you dont change them in calibre which is what I usually do) - if you hover over them with the 5 way thing, the title comes up in full. No, not a blues musician though I've tried to convince myself I can play the "harp". I do have a pretty good collection, however. |

In that case, here's an EP to add to it!

(Everything else, like Hatchet and for the next three pages are series titles, with the books within.) I went from 15 pages to 4! http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/149...nshot10377.gif |

My opinion on 2.5 Update. I got it on May 13th, and I rather enjoy it.
Collections: I greatly enjoy the collections feature. I had 60 something pages of books/manga on my home page. I now have 2. It took a bit of time when I went through every book individually to add it to a collection, but I've realized that adding the books from the collection itself was much faster. Also, I have fun collection names, like POKEMON! Gotta Catch Em All and The Opiate of the Masses. PDF Pan and Zoom: I find this to be a bit of a bust, but all my pdfs have really dense text. Password Protection: Haven't tried it yet, as I'm the only person who uses my Kindle. More Fonts & Improved Clarity: Those font sizes are huge. I've used them to make my bookmarks more precise as they tend to have one location per page. Also, I can't tell any difference in sharpness since I like the UFH. Facebook & Twitter Posts: This is rather lame. I understand the idea, but all my friends already know I have a kindle. It also just makes a link my status update, not my highlight like "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." Other Changes Menus have changed, and I think the Internet browser loads things better. I dislike how I can't sort my items by books, pdfs, subscriptions anymore. Popular Highlights: This is lame because it only does it for *.azw files that you buy from Amazon. Converted personal docs don't do it. All in all, I'm happy for this update, but only due to the Collections feature. I had probably too many books. Also, once it gets hacked, I'll probably fully love it again. And no, I do not have the bin. |

So, how many titles do you have and are they in a bunch of directories under 'documents'? How long does it take to delete a title?

I have about 670 titles, with 92 being in the pictures folder. Out of the rest of those, about 120 were from Amazon. The rest I added with calibre, so they are in directories. I would say it took about a second/book to actually add a book. To individually add a book to a collection took about 30 secs because of going through the menus of pressing right on each book. It took about 30 secs to add a bunch of books on the collection page.
I would say that it was fast. For reference, I do live in an area that gets the EDGE coverage. I think that might have something to do with it. |

I'd be very interested in how long it takes to delete a title from the home screen. On mine, it takes 30 seconds from the time the title turns light gray before it flickers and disappears.

Besides the Collections feature, I'm really looking forward to having password protection: the company I work for won't allow us to put proprietary material on our Kindles until that password is on there. |

Shouldn't the title of this thread be changed to something more 'honest'? Like, "The 2.5 Update - Fact or Drug-Induced Fiction?"
Derek - who's still seen neither hide nor hair of the update on either of his K2US Kindles. |
