Post Montaigne, Michel de: The Complete Essays (English). v1.0 Jan 2009

From wikipedia:

[ Michel de Montaigne (February 28, 1533–September 13, 1592) was one of the most influential writers of the French Renaissance. Montaigne is known for popularizing the essay as a literary genre. He became famous for his effortless ability to merge serious intellectual speculation with casual anecdotes[1] and autobiography — and his massive volume Essais (translated literally as "Attempts") contains, to this day, some of the most widely influential essays ever written. Montaigne had a direct influence on writers the world over: including René Descartes[citation needed], Ralph Waldo Emerson, Stefan Zweig, Friedrich Nietzsche, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Isaac Asimov, and perhaps William Shakespeare (see section "Related Writers and Influence" below). ]

In my own words: These essays are a great read. It's remarkable how his 16th century writing is still very relevant and applicable today. While a very interesting read, it is not very difficult or complex. So if you haven't read much philosophy and you don't know Montaigne, it is still very accessible to you. Also, it's often surprisingly funny!

I've made individual LRF files with BD from PG's 19 file version of the essays, so it didn't become one big unmanageable book. I hope you enjoy the essays, if only a couple of them.
