prs 350 question

Hi,
I have been thinking of purchasing a refurbished 360 or possibly a kobo mini. The 360 seems to be well loved. I found one online and the specs show that is has WiFi but from what I understand, the 350 did not have WiFi. Can someone clarify this? The only difference that I see between the kobo mini and the PRS 360 is the WiFi...as far as I can tell. What are your thoughts? I already have a kobo glo for night reading. I am just looking for something small to carry around in my purse.

Sincerely,

Penny

The 350 doesn't have WiFi. As far as differences with the Kobo. They both read ePub, but the interfaces and stuff are totally different. One reason you might consider the Mini would be that you're already familiar with the Glo, but both are good readers.

The Mini is a more recent device (something like 2 years younged than the 350). On the other hand the 350 has great dictionaries.

I have the "350" and I love it!

It doesn't have "WiFi", but if you download enough books, you won't miss it.

I've used it daily for the past 18 months, it is small enough to fit into your pocket or purse, the battery life is great.

Hi mystika1

From a technical point of view, I think they are probably equal even if the Kobo is newer. The mini has a wifi capability but both can not use more memory and the storage space is 2 gig. The 350 has a stylus and an integrated holder for it. It seems to me that the material used for the 350 is better. It is also quite possible, but I do not have the 350, that the Sony operating system is more stable than the other.

But since you already have a Kobo Glo, you'll immediately feel at home.

Finally, since a month or two (in Canada at least) the price of the mini is very often reduced. I almost buy the 350 some time ago, but I end up with the mini I paid only 40$. So if you can find a similar deal, this is a no-brainer!

If you are ready reading on the Glo then I think the Kobo mini would probably be the best way to go as you should be able to sync your reading progress between devices.

Also, anything you've purchased on the Kobo bookstore would sync to the Kobo Mini so you wouldn't *have* to deal with two different ecosystems (unless you mainly read free books/library books - then it is not an issue at all).

My hubby and I both bought eReaders about a month ago. He got a nice deal on a refurb/clearance PRS-350, and I picked up the Mini (thinking I'd like the fact that it has Wifi) on sale for about $10 less. Honestly, I don't really use the Wifi so that was a bit of an unnecessary feature - but it is handy from time to time. I liked the fact that the Mini was just that little bit smaller, and I fell for the changeable back cover idea...

When all is said and done, I LOVE my Mini, and I love that it sits in my hand better than the PRS-350 (weighs slightly less and has a decent sized bezel to hold on to), but my hubby loves the 350 over the Mini, as it has a more substantial build quality. He also likes the option of being able to use a touch screen OR buttons depending on his mood. Personally, I have trouble adjusting to the "swipe" page turns on his. On the Kobo, you can just tap the page and it turns.

All a matter of preference. I must admit, the 350 does looks so much more "business" than the Kobo Mini.

Teija--It's great that both you and your husband got the readers that suit each of you best! If your husband ever decides to install PRS+ on his 350 (highly recommended!), he'll have several customization options, including tap screen to turn pages.
