Epub and DRM ?
Sound like the Cybook is going to support Epub sometime soon
And that lead to -> Any way to get rid of the DRM's ? Or a website that sells no-drmised Epub ? |

Pan-Macmillan sells DRM-free ePub.
Providing information about DRM-removal is inappropriate for this site. |

The EInk devices that support DRMed MOBI and (increasingly) DRMed Adobe ePub all run Linux, but MobiPocket and Adobe have not released Linux Desktop versions.
In 2007, Adobe said in its FAQ: Quote:
I think DRM peddlers are making a mistake by not supporting all available platforms. This requires resources, but stripping DRM becomes much more widespread when DRM-supporting Readers are unavailable. It is now possible to strip DRM from all popular ebook formats. Adobe's DRM scheme is called ADEPT so see: Adobe ADEPT DRM for EPUB circumvented and Adobe ADEPT DRM for PDF circumvented. |

But you shouldn't have to do this to read something you paid for. If at least DRM where useful in preventing piracy, but they are not. Quite the contrary actually, they are encouraging it by making the customers life a pain. Last edited by EowynCarter; 03-28-2009 at 09:52 AM. |

I was reading on note from BooksOnBoard about drm''s. and that part made me jump :
Quote:
Is that a BooksOnBoard restrictions, or an Epub drm restiction ? Drm on epub looks even worse than the one on mobi. |

At first I thought you must be mistaken, but there it is in Adobe Download Reactivations. BoB's point is that Adobe is charging extra for every download, and, unlike with MOBI, there is no need to redownload existing ebooks when you add a new device to your Adobe ID.
