Calibre and the new publication layout

After trying the new 3.1 Kindle firmware, I've notice Calibre generated publication files (recipes) don't behave totally correct with the new publication layout. More especifically, when navigating to the main title page, in any situation, the selection is always on the first section/article. It should be the last section/article selected.

Am I the only one reading the news?

I've also noticed this. Is it just Calibre-generated publications that have this problem? I don't have any Amazon subscriptions to newspapers or magazines - only Calibre subscriptions - so I just assumed it was a problem with all of them.

The Amazon subscriptions don't behave like this. I have one and can confirm. When going back to the main title page the selection is the last article viewed.

Yes, I just confirmed this with a free trial Amazon subscription.

I see you can still access an articles-only list via a link at the bottom of the sections/articles page, and navigating back after selecting an article from there does return you to the right place. Essentially the same as the pre-update behaviour but with only 3 articles per page instead of 4.

Yes, so did I. Amazon subscriptions seem to work fine -- the back button places the cursor at the last viewed article in the articles list.

For some reason, the articles-only list initially worked for me for calibre-fetched news, but now it's broken. Rather than getting the three-articles-per-screen list, I'm just getting one (incomplete) article description per screen, listed 'Article 1 of 0'.

I read in another thread somewhere that the back button behaviour could possibly be down to the way calibre codes the TOC for fetched news.

The problem is further discussed here (same forum).

Seems to be a Calibre issue with its handling of the new 3.1 features.

Would be FANTASTIC if it could be solved 'cos the new functionality is potentially excellent if the "back" button worked as before.
