Farseer Trilogy or Night Angel Trilogy

Hi All,

Wondering which of these two trilogies to start.

Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb
or
The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks

I have heard good things about both and I didn't intentionally decide to read a story about assassins next but it seems to be leaning that way, haha.

So, any recommendations?

I felt the Robin Hobb was a fair bit better, myself.

They're both good, and I don't think either of them would really be a wrong choice, but I had a few more issues with the Brent Weeks than the Hobb. Indeed, my problems with the Farseer trilogy didn't show up in the first book at all. I've yet to read the third book of the Night Angel series, and I'm not sure I'd be too disappointed if I never did.

I pick the one that never uses the term 'wetboy'.

Not to say anything bad about Weeks' writing (and I fully understand the connection to 'wet work'), but I just couldn't get past that word. It refused to not sound stupid in my head. 'Deaders' wasn't much better. I'm sure it's an outstanding piece of work otherwise.

I preferred the Robin Hobb trilogy. I found the relationship in Night Angel a bit juvenile.

Robin Hobb for me too. I stopped reading the first Brent Weeks about a hundred pages in.

I read Brent Week's Night Angel trilogy earlier this year. I thought it was okay, but not great. So maybe go for the Robin Hobb first. I haven't read them, but maybe I will at some point.

Thanks all, looks like it will be Robin Hobb's trilogy. I'll probably get to Weeks eventually...

Having read both Trilogies, I recommend them both. In fact regardless of which one you start with, you wont be able to put it down till its all read.
Cover to Series end Cover.
