Region Locked?

Are there any indication in the US reader and Connect software that the device is region locked?

I am wondering if a PRS 505 bought now from the US will be usable on the UK version of the store next year when launched next year.

I don't see why it would be region locked. The only issue people had was using the Connect store from outside the USA.

There's absolutely no problem at all with using a US Reader in the UK. I've been doing so for the best part of a year now.

Doing business with Sony, in relation to the Reader, is region locked, regarding with you need an American credit card number to buy device and ebooks.

I could go to the Sony Style shop with a UK credit card and buy one. Not a problem.

But you couldn't buy one online. It's a little awkward if the nearest Sony Style shop that stocks the Reader is 3000 miles away

Online true. But in person, I'd be fine. And a lot of UK residents go to Florida where they can easily buy a 505.

Good clarification Harry. Jon you made me realize I have remote family in Florida and I'd never thought of bugging them with a purchase.

Something I noticed about the Connect Store Account thing recently -- the part where you enter a credit card has an entry control for the country that is clearly a scrolling type control -- I mean that it's designed to scroll through a list of choices (see the attachment). The list only has the U.S. in it at the moment, but the fact that it's designed to handle multiple values is a bit encouraging.
