For my second nomination, I'm going with The Red Cockade by Stanley J. Feynman, uploaded by AlexBell. From his blurb:

Quote:
The Red Cockade is a Dumas-like swashbuckling historical romance, set around 1789 in Cahors and Nimes at the time of the French Revolution, and tells of the adventures of an aristocrat sympathetic to the cause of the people. The San Francisco Chronicle said this one 'deserves a place among the best historical fiction of the latter part of this [the nineteenth] century.' One of Weyman's finest

So all of that said, I personally see no reason not to go by our usual practice of letting people nominate what they will on the assumption that it will shake out in the nominating/voting process. But if Tom sees this and wants to issue a ruling, that would be good, too!

*Some books in the PCML may not be in the US public domain.
Guys, this category was my idea a few years ago. As I explained then, its purpose is to honor all those who have so graciously given their time and effort to contribute to the library.

I nominate a new addition. GrannyGrump has today uploaded a collection of short works by Ring Lardner called Lardner on the Loose.

Granny says that Lardner's "frequent use of vernacular influenced sports fiction writing for generations to come."

Excellent news! I knew she was working on Lardner, but she hadn't uploaded it last time I looked.

I will nominate The Art of Money Getting by PT Barnum. I believe it will give us great insight into the mind of our current president.

If you are nominating this in order to give us an insight to Donald Trump, then you've picked the wrong book. There is nobody else like him and PT Barnum was nothing like Trump.

Also, if you are doing this to spark a political discussion, that won't work because you need to have that discussion in the politics forum. Politics are not here.

Perhaps I chose the wrong book by PT Barnum. A better choice would be Humbugs of The World Which I do nominate.
