Cover Image Compression.

Is it possible to add a cover image without it being compressed by Calibre?

Not sure what you are asking for here? The .jpg format used by calibre to store book covers is automatically a compressed format.

If instead you are asking about Calibre resizing them then you can always simply overwrite the cover.jpg file that Calibre stores under each book entry in its library with your own file.

Hello itimpi. What I'm doing is trying to add a high resolution .jpg cover to a .lit book. When the image is added, Calibre automatically compresses the image to a lower quality setting. I'd like to just add the original image untouched, is that possible?

It is easy enough to add one to the Calibre library by copying it manualyy to the folder inside the Calibre library that holds the eBook file and calling the file "cover.jpg". However I do not think there is any way to stop Calibre resizing it to fit the maximum resolution of the device specified in the your output device profile. You can always try by putting the file there and running the conversion to .LIT.

There may be other tools around tht can handle .LIT files that would do what you want - you could try Googling for them.
